Website purchasers may notice some shopping cart differences due to our new collaboration with Longleaf Services, Inc., who are now fulfilling WSU Press’ and Basalt Books’ orders. Longleaf provides fulfillment and publishing services for university presses, enabling client publishers to enhance their competitiveness, improve operating efficiencies, and create economies of scale, resulting in better service to their customers and lowering overall operating costs for both publisher and book buyer. A 501(c)3 organization, Longleaf Services commenced operations in 2006 and currently provides fulfillment services for 30 university presses as well as various publishing services for the wider scholarly publishing community.

Longleaf welcomed Washington State University Press in early May 2026. Known for works that explore the history, culture, environment, and people of the Pacific Northwest, WSU Press brings a strong regional perspective and commitment to environmental scholarship to the Longleaf community. WSU Press’s Director, Linda Bathgate, had this to say about joining Longleaf: “We are extremely grateful to be working with such an engaged, effective, and enthusiastic team as the Longleaf crew. While we had feared that the transition from our own order and warehouse systems would be overly burdensome, Longleaf has made it a smoother path than we’d ever thought possible.
