Clifford E. Trafzer

Clifford E. Trafzer is the Distinguished Professor of History and Costo Chair in Native American studies at the University of California-Riverside. The award-winning author is of Wyandot and German ancestry and has spent his life working with Native American communities in four western states.

He is the author or co-author of “Renegade Tribe: The Palouse Indians and the Invasion of the Pacific Northwest” (Washington State University Press), recipient of the 1986 Governor’s Award for best nonfiction in Northwest history; “Mourning Dove’s Stories” (Publications in American Indian Studies); and “Chief Joseph’s Allies: The Palouse Indians and the Nez Perce.”
